Understanding
Deuteronomy 32:28 For they are a nation void of counsel, neither is there any understanding in them. 29 O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end! Understanding requires counsel. Wise counsel gives a bigger perspective than what one has by themselves. We all have blind spots and others can point out those things that we can't see. What results in a serious lack of understanding is when we have a major blind spot and we have no one to point it out to us. Children need parents to help them see their latter end and steer them in the right direction. Solomon asked God for understanding. In 2 Chronicles it says he asked for wisdom. 1 Chronicles 22:12 Only the LORD give thee wisdom and understanding, and give thee charge concerning Israel, that thou mayest keep the law of the LORD thy God. Wisdom and understanding go hand in hand. It appears that one can not have one without the other. Job 12:12 With the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days understanding. 13 With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding. Understanding often increases as a person gets older. God is the source of understanding.
